On January 17, 2023 the world gained a true angel. Alicia Puente passed away peacefully surrounded by her loved ones.

Alicia was born on November 3, 1946 in Santa Rosa, TX. She met Butch Puente while in High School and it was love at first sight. They were married shortly after finishing school and then moved to Holland Michigan to start a life together. They had one son Noel who they lived for and loved with all of their hearts. Alice was an amazing cook and loved to go antiquing and collecting different things. Her and Butch shared many happy times going from store to store looking for treasures. They loved being together and were true soulmates. Alicia worked for Gentex Corporation and retired after 13 years. Once retired, her and Butch spent time in both Michigan and Le Feria doing what they loved best, spending time with friends and family. Alicia was happiest when she was with her family, especially her brothers and sisters and her extended Puente family. She was also blessed with lifelong friendships in both Michigan and Texas. These friendships were held close to her heart and with her until the end.

Alicia was a woman of strong faith and is now rejoicing in the kingdom of heaven and reunited with the love of her life, Butch.

Alicia was preceded in death by her mother, Ruth De La Garza; husband, Butch; brothers, Alfredo De La Garza, Juan De La Garza and Roberto De La Garza.

She is survived by her son, Noel (Tina) Puente; sisters, Rosa (Gilbert), Berta (Eddie) Tudela, Maria Elana Chapa Garcia; brothers, Arturo (Mary) De la Garza, George (Yolanda) De La Garza.

A funeral ceremony will be held at 1:00pm, on Thursday, January 26, in the Chapel at Restlawn Memorial Gardens, 994 Paw Paw Drive, Holland, MI.

The family is asking in lieu of flowers that memorial donations are made to the 2023 Butch and Alice Puente Scholarship Fund.
