Alfred Dyer Williams, age 58, of Holland died Wednesday, October 19, 2016.

Alfred graduated from Flint Northwestern High school and Agape Bible College. He retired from Chevrolet Truck and Bus after 31 years of service. He was also employed with Flint Sill Building, Hayworth, Enviro-Clean and was an excellent carpenter and builder.

For seventeen years Alfred was a devoted member of Harris Memorial Church of God and Christ under the spiritual leadership of the late Bishop, Walter E. Bogan Sr., during that time he was active in Sunday school and coordinated facilities operations. Alfred relocated to Holland, MI and became a member of Christ Memorial Church where he served on the usher board.

Alfred loved his wife; they really enjoyed spending time collecting and watching classic and western movies along with working together on many home improvement projects. He was a dedicated father to his children and was always teaching his grandchildren how to build things. Also, he enjoyed participating in their school functions.

His hobbies included building model cars and trains, fishing and spending time as a Cub Scout leader and softball coach. Al was a very kind and caring person and would do whatever he could for others. He was preceded in death by his parents Alfred and Evelyn Williams, brothers Don Q. Pollard and Ted Williams and mother-in-law Rosa Hawkins.

Alfred leaves behind his loving wife of 36 years Gail, and three sons: Alfred Williams III of Holland, Don Williams and Kevin Williams both of Milwaukee, WI; granddaughters: Alayna and Arielle Williams of Holland; father-in-law: Arester Hawkins of Burton, MI; brother-in-law’s: Elder Carl (Deloris) Hawkins of Grand Blanc, MI and Timothy (Liz) Hawkins of Flint, MI; sister-in-law’s: Patricia Hawkins of Burton, MI; cousins: George Stewart and Evelyn Stewart both of Southfield, MI; other nephews, nieces and cousins. A special thanks to friend Bob Bakker, and the Christ Memorial and Harris Memorial Church families.
