Gayle Wilson, age 88, of Holland passed away on Tuesday, May 7, 2024.

Gayle was a member of the Third Reformed Church in Holland.

He was a veteran of the Army and Marines serving as a chaplain including time spent in Vietnam from 1968-1969. Also, Gayle served tours at both Burtonwood Army Depot in England and Hohenfels Training Area in Germany.

After Gayle transitioned from active duty he served as pastor at churches in Falmouth, MI, Moddersville, MI, Westland, MI, and Cleveland, OH.

He was preceded in death by his parents and seven siblings.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Paula, and children: Jennifer (Roger) Clinton of Hudsonville, MI; Emily (John) Armstrong of Holland, MI and their children Julia (Tanatswa) Mapondera, Anne Armstrong, and Eliza Armstrong; R. Mark Wilson of Grand Junction, CO; sister-in-law: Catherine Feig of Cincinnati, OH; nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A funeral service with military honors will be held at 11:00 am, Tuesday, May 14, 2024, at Dykstra Funeral Homes – Mulder Chapel, 188 West 32nd Street in Holland. Rev. Dr. Ryan Boes will be officiating. Burial will be in the Fort Custer National Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 10:00 am – 10:45 am prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be given to the National Coalition for Homeless Veterans.
